#1 Nick Jensen

The number one stud of the game is Nick Jensen who finally scored his first goal as a member of the Caps. It came on a beautiful snipe from the right face off circle. It came at 4:15 in the third and was assisted by Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie.

Jensen has actually been on a hot streak offensively. He has recorded four points (one goal, three assists) over his last six games. Jensen has recorded eight points (one goal, seven assists) in 21 games this season, matching his total from last season in 47 fewer games.

Jensen was one of three defensemen to record a point against the Flyers, along with Dmitry Orlov who scored the game’s second goal, and John Carlson who has an assist. Caps defensemen have recorded a combined 55 points (14 goals, 41 assists), tied for the fifth highest total among NHL teams.

Jensen’s previous goal came on Oct. 11, 2018 when he played for the Detroit Red Wings in a game where he lit the lamp twice against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jensen has seven goals in 299 career regular season games.

Jensen told the media after the game:

"“I had it all day to take a shot. It was exciting. It’s been a while.”"
