The Washington Capitals will be buyers at the upcoming trade deadline and already made a move to free up cap space by waiving Richard Panik and then assigning him to the taxi squad. If you missed our guide for players they should trade for, you can catch that here. Read on to find out which players the Caps should avoid, at your own risk.

Adding one of these players might cause a rift in the locker room or just plain confusion. Plus you don’t want to let go of the wrong player and have that come back to bite you. Here are 3 players to avoid at the deadline.

#3 Filip Forsberg

No, just no. The Caps already blew it by trading him and they would blow it even more by trading for Filip Forsberg back. It would cause a friction in the room probably from the player himself as it is unlikely he would want to go to a team that traded him early in his career after he was a top draft pick.

The Caps would also have to give someone up in return for him. Maybe a player like Jakub Vrana, which I don’t see the team getting rid of.
