The Washington Capitals are in the home stretch of the regular season with 10 games left before the playoffs. That’s a lot of hockey and also not a lot of hockey as the team figures out what position to lock up for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

We’ll break down the remaining six games in May at a later date. Today we’ll break down the final four games of April. It will be a stretch where the Caps will only see two opponents but they’re significant matchups nonetheless.

First the Caps will see the New York Islanders and they better get familiar with them quickly as they will play them in three consecutive games. Two of those games will take place on Long Island. The finale will be at home in front of fans for the first time this season.

Last night the NBA’s Washington Wizards were the first to open up Capital One Arena to fans. 2,100 watched Bradley Beal take down Steph Curry and the Warriors. Six days from that game it’ll be the Caps turn to welcome fans back.

Following the Islanders the Caps will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins for two home games. We’ll break down at least the first one and then the second one at a later date.

First up, the New York Islanders.
