There were 56 choices narrowed down to 36 wins then narrowed down to what we thought were the three best games of the season. Which three were your favorite games of the season? These were mine.
#3 Their first win against the Penguins
On Feb. 16 the Caps were not only looking for their first win of the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins but their first 60 minute game of the season. It was their first complete game in a 3-1 domination of the Penguins in Pittsburgh, one of those rare instances with no fans.
The first period was scoreless. The Caps struck first in the second at 4:52 on a snipe from Conor Sheary from the right face off circle. The pass was set up by Richard Panik from behind the goal and started by Nick Jensen.
At 11:31 the Caps doubled their lead with Nicklas Backstrom feeding T.J. Oshie. Oshie centered a pass to Jakub Vrana and he banged it in to make it 2-0 which would be the score after two.
The Caps got a 3-0 lead 1:09 into the third period on a snipe in front of the net from Lars Eller. Panik and Zdeno Chara had the helpers. The Caps would go on to win 3-1.
