#2 T.J. Oshie

T.J. Oshie had another outstanding season with the Caps and I wrote the other day that the team absolutely needs to protect him ahead of the expansion draft. Hopefully, they listen.

Oshie finished the season with 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points. Although it wasn’t as much as the previous season keep in mind it was shortened from 69 to 56 games with Oshie playing in 53 of them. He missed two to injury and one to be with his family for the passing of his father, Coach.

Speaking of that, the day after he passed away Oshie put on a show so he could smile up from Heaven. Oshie scored not one, not two, but three goals for a hat trick as the Caps fought their way to an emotional victory over the New York Rangers.

We don’t know what the Caps will do with Oshie and the rest of their players, but what we do know is that Oshie is the heart and soul in the locker room and he has a personality you can’t replace.

Oshie was strong in his interview and adamant he wants to finish his career with the Caps. We’ll see if General Manager Brian MacLellan does the right thing.
