The Caps are in a unique position for their draft strategy. They could draft another forward or a defenseman. After drafting centers Connor McMichael and Hendrix Lapierre in consecutive drafts, the Caps should turn their focus to drafting someone on the wing either the right or left wing.

Or they could also go with a defenseman. Zdeno Chara is likely on his way out with retirement. That gives an open spot for guys like Martin Fehervary and Alex Alexeyev. But what about the future? Drafting a young defenseman would also be smart.

My NHL Draft has the Capitals drafting Brennan Othmann. He is a six foot left winger that is 175 pounds and plays for Olten of the SUI.

During 34 games this past season with EHC Olten, he scored seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. With Canada U18 in the WJC-18, Othmann had three goals and three assists in seven games.
