Despite things getting noisy around the NHL, things are still very quiet involving the Washington Capitals. There hasn’t been any moves and with the first round looming it is highly unlikely the Caps will trade someone for a first round pick.

There has been some rumors about the Caps being interested in a reunion with Braden Holtby. There’s also five teams in on Evgeny Kuznetsov. The Caps may also trade away Brenden Dillon or another high priced defensemen to shed salary for some big re-signings coming up.

As far as draft picks go, the Caps won’t have a pick until the second round after trading away a first rounder for Anthony Mantha. Washington’s first selection will come with the 55th pick in the second round. You can catch the second round and the conclusion of the draft tomorrow at 11 a.m. on NHL Network.

Last year the Caps made five selections including Hendrix Lapierre with the 22nd overall pick. This year marks the first time the Caps won’t select in the first round since 2017. It is the seventh time in franchise history the Caps have held the 55th pick and the first time since selecting Dmitry Orlov with it in 2009.
