The Washington Capitals got a 6-3 win on Tuesday night over the Colorado Avalanche to conclude their homestand on a mile high note. They secured at least a point in all three contests and won two of them. The Caps will travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils tomorrow night in their second Metropolitan Division matchup of the season.

A lot of players contributed in this 6-3 win. Who were the top 3 that stood out from the pack? Glad you asked, we’ll break it all down here.

#3 Alex Ovechkin

Although his goal was an empty net goal, a goal is a goal and that’s exactly what Alex Ovechkin did to put icing on the cake for those in attendance. It was his 734th goal of his career. Ovechkin has now scored four goals through the Caps first three games. He is now eight goals shy of passing Brett Hull (741) for the fourth most goals in NHL history.

This is probably Ovechkin’s best start to the season since 2017-18 when he had two hat tricks through two games. It was a nice empty net goal from one end of the ice to the other with a long shot right up the middle.
