The Washington Capitals had a solid month of October and now embark on a month of November playing mostly on the road after opening the season with the bulk of their games at home. With a 5-0-3 record, the team is looking to continue the momentum as they face a two game road test in Florida beginning on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

There will be 15 total games this month and 10 of those will be away from D.C. The Caps, although not undefeated, have earned a point in every game they played. Albeit one of their losses, their first one of the year, came in overtime to the Lightning 2-1 in the second game of the season with Steven Stamkos winning the game. The Lightning are 4-3-1 and they too are coming off a win over the Arizona Coyotes where they dominated to a 5-1 victory.

There’s a couple of milestones to watch tonight. Evgeny Kuznetsov, who’s off to a really hot start this season, is two points shy of passing Dennis Maruk for 11th on the Capitals franchise points list. He is also four assists shy of 300 career assists. Alex Ovechkin is three goals shy of passing Brett Hull (741 goals) for the fourth most goals on the NHL’s all time list and four assists shy of 600 career assists.

Ovechkin ranks first in the NHL in goals with nine through games played October 30 and second in points with 15. Kuznetsov is tied for fifth in the NHL in points with 12. The two are streaking as well. Ovechkin is on a four game goal streak with five goals as well as an eight game point streak with nine goals and six assists. Kuznetsov is on a two game point streak with a goal and two assists.
