#2 Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin continued to chase more history on Monday night. He was all over the ice with six shots on goal. He could’ve even had two goals if it weren’t for that Tom Wilson deflection but for now he’ll settle with tying Brett Hull at 741 goals for the fourth most all time in NHL history. He had a goal and two assists which were the 599th and 600th of his career.

Many people thought he was done but Ovechkin continues to prove doubters wrong night after night. He also leads the NHL with 11 goals on the season. Reminder that he just turned 36 in September.

Ovechkin’s goal in the second period did not come in typical Ovi fashion from the office. Instead it was a deflection himself on a Dmitry Orlov shot. Ovechkin skated in total of 24:19 minutes of ice time.

Ovechkin told the media after the game:

"“It’s nice to be in that company. It’s pretty big numbers. … It’s nice to be tied, but I still have a couple games left.”"

Ovechkin had watched Brett Hull play before and noted that he had a tremendous shot. Next up on the all time goals list is Jaromir Jagr’s mark of766 once Ovechkin passes Hull.
