The Washington Capitals and Florida Panthers go head to head to close out the month of November. It is their third and final meeting of the regular season. On Nov. 26, the Capitals defeated the Panthers 4-3 at Capital One Arena behind Alex Ovechkin‘s 28th career hat trick and a three assist game from Evgeny Kuznetsov.

The Caps dropped their first meeting with Florida in overtime 5-4 on Nov. 4 at FLA Live Arena. Washington has earned a point in 23 of their last 29 games against the Panthers with an 18-6-5 record. Ovechkin is the NHL’s all time leading scorer against the Florida franchise, with 88 career points in 67 games (43 goals and 45 assists).

The Caps followed up that win over the Panthers on Black Friday with a Sunday matinee road victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. In that game Ovechkin scored, Aliaksei Protas got his first, and Dmitry Orlov provided the game winner.

After losing to the Caps, the Panthers dropped a home contest to the Seattle Kraken 4-1. I’ll tell ya, you can’t take those Kraken lightly especially after they beat the Caps eight days ago.

The Panthers were leaders in the Atlantic Division for the longest time but now they sit just two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have leapfrogged them thanks to a four game winning streak. The Panthers are 14-4-3 with 31 points. The Caps hold a 14-3-5 record, good for 33 points and first in the Metropolitan Division after beating those bunch of jerks.

The Caps 33 points are tied with the Maple Leafs for first in the Eastern Conference as well as the NHL. The Caps had a relaxing start to the season, well sort of, with eight games in 19 nights including six on home ice. Things began to ramp up in November and things got more complicated as the injuries began to pile up.

The Caps are finishing up a month that saw them play 15 games in 30 nights which included three sets of back to back gams in 11 days and a stretch of five games in five cities in seven nights.

The Caps enter tonight with a 9-3-2 record in the month of November. They heated up after starting out slowly with an 0-1-2 record that included a loss to the Panthers in overtime.
