For the first time in 10 days it’s a Washington Capitals gameday. Tonight they host the Nashville Predators and there’s been a lot of moves with the sports world affected by COVID-19. The Caps recalled Pheonix Copley and Michal Kempny from the Hershey Bears while adding Lucas Johansen, Alex Alexeyev, and Brett Leason to the taxi squad.

There’s a few milestones within reach. Coach Peter Laviolette is one win shy of passing Dick Irvin (691) for the 10th most wins in NHL history. Alex Ovechkin is one power play goal shy of passing Dave Andreychuk (274) for the most power play goals in NHL history.

Tonight is the Caps first game against Nashville since Jan. 29, 2020 which was a 5-4 loss at Capital One Arena. Ovechkin enters the game with goals in each of his last two games against the Predators with three and is currently on a three game point streak against Nashville. He’s also got two assists in that stretch.

Ovechkin has points in seven of his last eight games with three goals and seven assists. Conor Sheary has also heated up with a five game point streak with two goals and four assists, a new career high.

Ovechkin is third in the NHL with 47 points, second in goals with 22 and sixth in assists with 25. John Carlson is seventh in points with 26 and fifth in assists with 20 among defensemen.
