Washington Capitals center Nic Dowd and his wife Paige have been known to have given back to the Autism community and to celebrate the new year, the couple has launched a fundraiser giving back to their organization “Dowd’s Crowd”.
You can bid on some cool one of a kind items over here at WashCaps.com/DowdsCrowd between now and 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14. Some of these one of a kind items include a 2021-22 Capitals team signed home jersey, a team signed blue W third jersey, a game used stick signed by Dowd himself, and signed photos of select Caps players. There’s also a 30 minute virtual meet and greet with the Dowd family which includes two lower bowl tickets to a future Caps game.
Dowd’s Crowd was formed in 2018 to provide the opportunity for kids with sensory needs to be able to attend Capitals games. Through the program, fans receive tickets and a Dowd’s Crowd branded sensory kid. The Dowd’s were inspired to launch this program with Paige studying Speech Pathology in college.
There are also sensory kids available for purchase at Capital One Arena in case your child has sensory needs and wants to attend a Capitals game. Seeing the Caps continue to give back is another reason to be proud of our guys both on and off the ice.
Alex Ovechkin also helps out the disabled community with the opportunity for them to play the game of hockey. The Caps also recently launched the Canine Calendar. It is these and other endless things that goes to show the Caps are number one in the community.
There’s just something different about hockey players compared to other sports. It seems like they are more personable and want to be doing these community events and fundraisers over feeling obligated to. Bravo to the Dowds and Caps fans be sure to get your bids on!
