Monday March 21. That’s the day of the NHL Trade Deadline. Rumors have heated up all across the league. What about the Washington Capitals? Who could possibly be on the trade block?

There’s a lot of rumors. Should the Caps go after a goaltender? Should they address their forward situation? Injuries, the flu and COVID-19 have hurt the lineup and all we ask for is one normal day with everybody healthy. We haven’t gotten that and we probably won’t if Anthony Mantha is out for the season.

But which three players could have their days numbered? Let’s find out!

#3 Carl Hagelin

Nothing against the guy, I thought he was good to an extent when he first arrived but with the way he’s played this season and the cap hit, Carl Hagelin could get moved. Having PTSD from scoring his own goal, it wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

Hagelin has a cap hit of $2.75 million and taking that off the books will give the Caps a little bit to spend. They need to. They have no cap space. They’re like a broke college student so if they want an upgrade they’ll have to unload. Hagelin has two goals and five assists for seven points in 39 games.
