Slapshot is our nation’s mascot and the official mascot of the Washington Capitals. He dances for the fans and flies up and down the ice before the games. He’s just as important to the Caps as the players on the ice.

Listed as six foot three but three feet higher on skates, he weighs as light as a feather. He was born on June 20, 1782 with his first landing coming in 1995. Naturally, his favorite movie is Slapshot.

Slapshot loves to usually don a Capitals jersey with the number 00 but if it’s a special theme night you’ll usually see him dress for the occasion. He isn’t afraid to rally the fans, sometimes banging a drum to rile up the crowd and chant “Let’s Go Caps” when a game gets intense in the third period.

Slapshot also loves to come out and fire up the crowd when the players take the ice for introductions. He also isn’t afraid to pose for pictures with the fans, just ask nicely. Want to learn more facts about our nation’s mascot? Let’s fire it up!
