In addition to the Carl Hagelin news, the Washington Capitals gave an update on forward Joe Snively. Snively underwent a successful procedure to address the scaphoid bone on his left wrist and will be out four to six weeks.
The Herndon, VA native has four goals and three assists for seven points in 12 games before being placed on injured reserve on March 3rd. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he’s on the ice soon as the Caps make a push for the playoffs.
Snively’s advanced stats via Natural Stat Trick included a Corsi For percentage of 46.41 percent. He also has a High Danger Chances For percentage of 48.78 percent.
In addition the Caps announced that Carl Hagelin underwent eye surgery. He will be out indefinitely.
The Caps have recently had the return of Anthony Mantha back from shoulder surgery. They also welcomed back T.J. Oshie recently as well as Nicklas Backstrom. Everyone was either hurt or had COVID-19 at one point in the season or another.
Recently they called up Axel Jonsson-Fjallby. Now that he played last night he would be required to clear waivers if the Caps were to send him back to the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears.
The Caps were off today as they departed for Calgary where they’ll practice tomorrow to prepare for their game against the Flames on Tuesday. It’ll be interesting to see how the Caps can keep rolling. Can they do it?
They played awesome at home the last two games and responded when they needed to. When the Seattle Kraken got back in the game, the Capitals punched back. Now they have to carry it on the road and it’ll be a challenge being in Western Canada.
After the Flames the Caps will take on the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.
