The Washington Capitals continue their five game road trip with the fourth stop coming at the site they won the Stanley Cup at. That’s right, they take on the Vegas Golden Knights and will look to avenge a 1-0 loss on home ice back on Jan. 25. The Caps are 2-1-0 on the road trip.

Evgeny Kuznetsov leads the Caps with eight points (two goals, six assists) in six career games against Vegas, recording a point in four of his five most recent games. Nicklas Backstrom and Anthony Mantha lead the Capitals with four goals in their career against Vegas.

The Caps are hot at the right time. They’re 6-1-0 in their last seven games, winning against four of the five teams ahead of them in the standings. The Caps have averaged 5.29 goals per game during that span which ranks third in the NHL. They’ve converted on 25.9 percent of their power plays, have killed 90.3 percent of their penalties and outscored their opponents 15-6 in the third period.

Alex Ovechkin has scored 16 goals in his last 21 games and is on a two game point and goal streak. He’s fourth in the NHL with 48 goals but third in the NHL overall. He enters tonight’s game two goals shy from reaching the 50 goal mark for the ninth time in his career, which would tie Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy for the most 50 goal seasons in NHL history.

Ovechkin is also aiming to become the first player in NHL history to reach the 50 goal mark at the age of 36 or older. His next goal will pass Teemu Selanne for the all time mark by a player age 36 or older.
