Yesterday I looked at five reasons why the Washington Capitals will win the Stanley Cup. If you want to read about positive vibes you can do so over here. Today I’ll be negative and look at five reasons why they won’t win the Stanley Cup.

Before I dive into it, let me get this off my chest. It pains me to write this one and obviously I’m hoping I look foolish with this article in the end. But I also wanted to look at both ends of the spectrum. Why the Caps can win the Cup and why they can’t.

#5 Age

Reason number five is the fact that the Capitals are one of the oldest teams in hockey. There’s just a lot of younger and faster teams out there. A lot of Florida Panthers players that are producing are in their 20s. The Caps have a mixture of players in their 20s and 30s but mostly 30s.

That makes them look slower on paper automatically. And I’m not even saying this to be negative. I’ve seen comments by you, the readers from the summer on about how old this team is. I know your concerns and some of you thought they would miss the playoffs.
