#1 The pressure has shifted to the Panthers

The number one reason the Caps will take down the Panthers after winning Game 1 is because now the pressure is on the Panthers and the Caps now have nothing to lose and everything to gain from this opportunity.

The Caps not only scored three unanswered goals in the third period, but held the Panthers to just two shots in the final seven minutes to seal the win. The Panthers were 39-0-1 this season when leading after two periods. This was the first time all season they lost in regulation while leading after two periods.

Nic Dowd told reporters after today’s optional practice:

"“The only thing we should take from Game 1 is that we played well and that we have confidence that we can play a good game for 60 minutes, and we can take that into Game 2. We’ve moved on and we’re ready to play Game 2.”"
