Yesterday we looked at three blockbuster trades for Lars Eller. The other day we looked at average trades for John Carlson. Today I figured we’d go the blockbuster route again with the Washington Capitals defenseman this time.
So for this exercise I’ll once again put on my GM thinking cap and figure out what kind of trade would be good to pull off for the high priced defenseman who’s getting up there in age.
Carlson’s a great player don’t get me wrong but the Caps need more defense to protect whoever the heck they decide to put in net this fall.
John Carlson for Victor Hedman
I told you we were gonna go big or go home with this one, didn’t I?
The tricky part about trading for Victor Hedman is that he has a modified no trade clause, however, that means this July he can submit a list of 10 teams he would like to get traded to if the Tampa Bay Lightning go that route.
We don’t know if they will. They’re in the Eastern Conference Final playing for a third straight Stanley Cup. It would be far easier said than done. But they have cap issues too. Unlike the Caps though, they get away with it.
