The Washington Capitals have announced their preseason schedule ahead of the 2022-23 season. It all begins on Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m. at Capital One Arena against the Buffalo Sabres in the first of six games against four different opponents. Per usual it’ll be three home games and three road games.

The Caps will then face the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on September 28 which will begin three straight road games. That includes a stop at the Detroit Red Wings Little Caesars Arena on September 30 and Oct. 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

The Caps will then finish out the preseason at home against Detroit on Oct. 5 and Columbus on Oct. 8. The Caps went 2-3-1 in the preseason last year and their all time record is 172-131-33-17.

The full preseason broadcast schedule and complete 2022-23 NHL regular season schedule will be announced at a later date.

The Caps went 3-0-0 against the Buffalo Sabres last season including a 5-3 win on home ice and a road shootout win that was won by Alex Ovechkin. The Caps went 3-1-0 against the Flyers last season with their lone loss coming on home ice and the three wins coming on the road which is where they’ll be.

The Caps will then have two matchups both home and away against the Red Wings and the Blue Jackets. The Caps won three out of four games against the Blue Jackets including both of their road contests. Against the Red Wings, the Caps won two out of three, both of those wins coming on the road.

Preseason is just around the corner and if we’re looking at other sports it begins around week three of the NFL season. That’s good news for folks who don’t like football and great news for fans that like both. Stay tuned because soon at another date the regular season schedule will be announced.
