The Washington Capitals will have a bye week following the NHL All Star break with the game itself taking place on Feb. 4. As a result the Caps first game isn’t until Saturday Feb. 11.

Right off the bat it’s an away and home back to back. First it’s the Boston Bruins then. a home game the next afternoon against the San Jose Sharks which also happens to be Super Bowl Sunday.

That is the first of three games before the Caps go away to Raleigh that weekend for what is sure to be a spectacle for the Stadium Series.

But first it’s a Valentine’s Day home game against those Carolina Hurricanes then on the 16th they’ll host the Florida Panthers before heading to the campus of North Carolina State for a big road game against the Hurricanes.

On the 21st the Caps are back home. They’ll host the Detroit Red Wings and then the Anaheim Ducks on the 23rd. Then it’s a back to back to end the month of the 25th and 26th. First up is a home game with the New York Rangers then the month ends with a contest on the road against the Buffalo Sabres.

As far as best matchups at home, take a look at the three game homestand the week of the Super Bowl against the Sharks, Hurricanes and Panthers right before the Stadium Series. Obviously the outdoor game on the road is another matchup to watch and the biggest one of the month.

That home contest against the Rangers is also a big one. Now it’s time for some way too early predictions.

Caps fall to the Bruins. Then they beat the Sharks, and Hurricanes before falling to the Panthers but coming away with a point in overtime. Then the Caps kick some butt outside like they always do and continue their undefeated streak in outdoor games.

Following that the Caps get wins over the Red Wings and Ducks before losing to the Rangers and getting a win on the road against the Sabres.

So dong the math that gets the Caps a 6-2-1 record in the month of February. Pretty good for nine games.
