March is going to be an interesting and challenging month for the Washington Capitals. It always is and this season is no exception.
The month starts off out in California against the Anaheim Ducks. it continues on the fourth against the San Jose Sharks. It concludes on the sixth against the Los Angeles Kings.
Then the Caps return home on the ninth to host the New Jersey Devils. On the 11th they’ll head to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders.
On the 14th and 15th there’s a back to back first on the road at the New York Rangers then back at home against the Buffalo Sabres.
On St. Patrick’s Day the Caps host the St. Louis Blues and that’s also a Friday night. Woo. On the 19th they’ll travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild.
They’re back for two games at home on the 21st and 23rd against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks, respectively. On the 25th they’re at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The month ends with a home and road back to back on the 29th and 30th against the Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning.
The must watch matchup is the California road trip. Can the Caps overcome the west coast time difference?
Now let’s predict how they’ll do. I think the Caps go 1-1-1 in California. Beat the Ducks, lose to the Sharks, and fall to the Kings in overtime. They’ll beat the Devils and Islanders.
The Caps will fall to the Rangers but bounce back against the Sabres before falling to the Blues and then the Wild in overtime. They’ll rebound against the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks before falling to the Penguins.
They’ll then beat the Islanders and the Lightning in the back to back. So doing the math that’s a 8-4-2 record in 14 games. It is a jam packed month of March with the most games on the schedule providing the Caps with an early tune up before the playoffs.
In case you missed it, here’s October, November, December, January, and February.
