Recently EA Sports released the trailer and announced the cover athletes for their video game NHL 23. You can pre order the game now. They even included females in the game creating an opportunity to grow the sport.

If you preorder the NHL 23 X factor Edition by September 16, you’ll receive a HUT Team Builder Choice Pack (2 of 32) and other pre order awards.

The game features a ton of new stuff and later this season a cross platform option. So basically say if you want to play online and you have an Xbox One, you can still play with someone that has say a Playstation 5.

Here are 3 reasons to get excited about the new upcoming video game.

#3 Cross platform

As I mentioned a second ago, I can play NHL 23 online with someone that has a PS5 even though I have an Xbox One.

Here’s the official verbiage from EA Sports:

For the first time ever in an update later this year, cross-platform matchmaking‡ is coming to NHL 23. Players across same-generation consoles can face off against each other in Ultimate Team and World of Chel!

This is going to be a lot of fun. I need to start practicing my video gaming skills.

#2 History is made on the cover

In addition to Anaheim Ducks center Trevor Zegras, who’s a rising superstar in his own way, there’s another cover athlete on the game. In addition the cover features Canadien goal scorer Sarah Nurse.

She’s the first female athlete to be featured on an NHL video game cover.

Here’s more information about Sarah Nurse from EA Sports:

Canadian international Sarah Nurse makes history just about every time she steps onto the ice; most notably, she broke the record for most points scored in a single Olympic hockey tournament (male or female) in the 2022 Games. Nurse captured numerous gold medals with Canadian youth squads, and earned a silver medal with Canada in the 2018 Olympics after a shootout victory against the United States. She may be a seasoned veteran of the international game, but Sarah Nurse is just getting started. She’s making history with EA SPORTS as the very first female player to be featured on the official worldwide cover of an NHL game. Between her phenomenal shooting ability and her uncanny ability to read the game, Nurse is an absolute powerhouse that any HUT player will want in their lineup.

This is awesome and it’s only going to help grow this beautiful game.

#1 Alex Ovechkin’s visor makes a comeback

This is the best news for Washington Capitals fans. The other two, no offense, had nothing to do with the Capitals. But this final reason to get excited for NHL 23 does. Alex Ovechkin’s visor is coming back.

Alex Ovechkin has had several different looks in hockey video games whether it was 2K Sports or EA Sports. Ovechkin in the first look of NHL 23 in the trailer is shown wearing a mirrored visor while wearing his CCM gear.

Specifically Ovechkin wears the CCM Vector V8 helmet and the Jet Speed FT1 gloves, while using the Rib For Trigger.

Ovechkin was previously on the NHL 21 cover as well as NHL 2K10 and NHL 07. The graphics overall from this recent NHL installment promise to be good and if that trailer is any indication, it’s about to be even more fun playing as the great eight.

We haven’t seen Ovechkin with a mirrored visor really since his early days. It really took off during his rookie season. It even caused goaltenders like Martin Brodeur to criticize the visors saying it give Ovechkin an unfair advantage.

Trending. Some way too early thoughts on Capitals training camp. light

Having Ovechkin wearing a mirrored visor is the best idea EA Sports has had in years.
