The Washington Capitals will hold a rookie camp from September 16th through 19th at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington. Sessions will be free and open to the public.

There will be a total of 18 players including 12 Caps draft picks. Breaking it further down there will be 11 forwards, five defensemen and two goaltenders.

Here is the complete roster:

As you can see a lot of these players were participants in the summer development camp including the head coach’s son. During the 2021-22 regular season, Capitals rookies combined for 32 goals and 65 points, tied for fifth and 11th in the NHL, respectively.

Here is the schedule if you plan on coming out to MedStar for rookie camp:

Thursday September 15: Player physicals/testing-CLOSED/No media availability

Friday September 16: 12:30 Goalies on ice, 12:45-2 All players on ice

Saturday September 17: 9 a.m. Goalies on ice, 9:15-10:30 a.m. All players on ice

Sunday September 18: 9-9:30 On ice testing, 9:45-10:30 All players on ice

Monday September 19: 12:30 Goalies on ice, 12:45-2 All players on ice

Wednesday September 21: CLOSED for player physicals and testing

Thursday September 22: Start of training camp and media day

The players I’d be excited to see if I came out to rookie camp are Hendrix Lapierre, Vincent Iorio, Dru Krebs, and Peter Laviolette (the son). Laviolette was a free agent invite just like at development camp.

Hendrix Lapierre could really benefit from this camp just like he did during last year’s rookie camp and training camp. He hopes to stick around the NHL roster a little longer than he did last year after scoring in his NHL debut on opening night.
