More prospects to keep an eye on at Capitals Rookie Camp

Rookie Camp is still going on for the Washington Capitals at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. After looking at a few prospects yesterday, let’s look at some more today.

Garin Bjorklund: He’s one of two goaltenders participating in Caps Rookie Camp. He earned eight of Medicine Hat’s 11 wins this season, leading the Tigers in wins with eight, minutes played with 2,675, a goals against average of 4.26, an .877 save percentage and one shutout.

Ethen Frank: He signed with the Hershey Bears as a free agent in April. He served as an assistant captain for Western Michigan University in 2021-22, recording 39 points in 38 games with 26 goals and 13 assists.

Haakon Hanelt: He was the Capitals fifth round choice at 151st overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. He recorded 10 points with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was limited to 16 games due to injury but had two goals and eight assists.

Ryan Hofer: The 20 year old registered 58 points with 25 goals and 33 assists in 67 games with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL last season. He ranked fourth on Everett in goals, sixth in points and seventh in power play assists with 11.

Peter Laviolette: The head coach’s son is once again a free agent invite to Rookie Camp after he participated in Development Camp over the summer. He recorded 26 points with 11 goals and 15 assists in 27 games during his fifth season at Plymouth State University (NCAA D3).

Benton Maass: He transferred to Minnesota State University after playing for four years at the University of New Hampshire. He recorded 14 points with three goals and 11 assists in 42 games last season.

Simon Motew: He’s another free agent invite. He appeared in 54 games with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He established career highs in goals with five, assists with 12, and points with 17. He also led in shots on goal with 62 as well as games played.

Julian Napravnik: The 25 year old appeared in 40 games for Minnesota State University in his senior season, helping the Mavericks to a CCHA Championship and an appearance in the 2022 Frozen Four Championship Game.
