Other Capitals prospects to watch in 2022
Today was the final day of Washington Capitals Rookie Camp and it’d only be fair if we include everybody so here’s a list of other players to watch this upcoming season.
Ludwig Persson: A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Persson recorded 61 points in 41 games with Frolunda’s junior team (Sweden Jr.) last season, leading the team. The six foot, 185 pound forward also appeared in 10 games with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).
Henrik Rybinski: He recorded 65 points with 21 goals and 44 assists in 47 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. Listed as six foot one and 189 pounds, he set WHL career highs in goals, assists, points, power play goals with five and points per game with 1.38 and was named the Thunderbirds MVP last season.
Clay Stevenson: He earned six of Dartmouth’s seven wins in his sophomore season, leading the Big Green with six wins, a .922 save percentage, a 2.70 goals against average and two shutouts. The six foot four, 195 pound goaltender posted a save percentage above .900 in all 23 games this season and his .922 save percentage was tied for second in the ECAC. Additionally, Stevenson was named to the ECAC All Rookie Team and the ECAC Third All Star Team. The Drayton Valley, Alberta native signed a two year, entry level contract with Washington on March 28.
Alexander Suzdalev: He led HV71’s junior team of Sweden Jr. in scoring with 51 points in 45 regular season games with 15 goals and 36 assists. He also added four points with three goals and one assist in five playoff games. The six foot two, 176 pound forward also appeared in four games with HV71’s U18 team, recording eight points with three goals and five assists. He also skated in five games with HV71 of HockeyAllsvenskan of the Sweden 2. Additionally he won a gold medal with Team Sweden at the 2022 IIHF World U18 Championships. He signed with the Regina Pats of the WHL for this upcoming season.
