Lots of teams have a chance to. So how do the Capitals separate themselves from the pack and put themselves over the top? Glad you asked!

Today we’ll break down the top 3 ways the Caps can come away with the Metropolitan Division and jockey themselves for good playoff positioning.

#3 Treat every Metropolitan Division game like a playoff game

In order for the Caps to win the Metropolitan Division, as cliche as it sounds, they have to take each of those division matchups seriously.

Last season the race to the top of the division and the playoffs was tight and came down to the final week of the regular season.

Many teams made big moves including the Carolina Hurricanes who won the division last year. Other teams like the New York Islanders have stayed quiet. I don’t really see the Isles as a threat but I do see every other team being a potential threat facing the Caps. And they’ll give their best efforts against a team like the Caps every night so they have to be ready.
