Rock the Red carpet is coming back

The Washington Capitals open the season on Wednesday night and on Monday morning the team announced initiatives surrounding the game for fans including the return of the Rock the Red carpet.

For those unfamiliar, Rock the Red carpet was an annual tradition before COVID 19 got severe where players arrived to greet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures on their way to inside the arena.

Rock the Red carpet takes place on F Street in front of Capital One Arena from 3 to 5 p.m. Puck drop for the game itself against the Boston Bruins is at 7 p.m. Per the team press release, the Capitals players will begin arriving in cars provided by Lexus on F Street at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The players will be introduced and escorted by pre selected fans which could possibly include YOU. NBC Sports Washington will broadcast a pregame show featuring player interviews from the red carpet from 6:30-7 p.m. TNT will also air interviews from the red carpet in their hour long pregame show beginning at 6 p.m.

In addition to Rock the Red carpet which will be sure to draw a lot of people, there’s also a truck provided by Caesars Sportsbook and Casino. It’s a truck where fans can participate in tailgate style activities fit for a Caesar which will be available from 3:30 to 7 p.m.

There will also be a Capital One Fan Studio that will be open on F Street from 4 to 7 p.m. that will give fans the opportunity to get a custom print designed by a local D.C. artist that will be creating game inspired art at the studio in real time. You’ll also get the chance to meet Karl Alzner as he will sign autographs and take photos from 5-6:30 p.m.

All fans in attendance will receive a schedule magnet and possibly glow sticks if the Caps decide to give those away again like they did last opening night.
