During practice yesterday the Washington Capitals confirmed what we all knew. Not only is the reverse retro coming back this season but the slick jersey design will be in black.
To be specific the color scheme will be copper, blue, and bronze as well. The Capitals hit the ice for practice in their new gear. Darcy Kuemper and some sick blockers and a new goalie mask to boot.
Just like the 2021 season, the Caps are bringing back the Screaming Eagle according to some leaks on the internet. This time instead of red, white and blue, the Screaming Eagle will be more of a homage to the colors the Caps wore from 1995-2007.
Here’s a look at Kuemper’s new mask:
The Caps also released a teaser of their reverse retro line that’s returning to the NHL this season.
The Caps will be wearing a team record five jerseys this season. The classic red and white for home and away games, the navy blue W third jersey, the reverse retro, and the jerseys for the Stadium Series that we have yet to see.
Kuemper described yesterday’s practice in the new gear “kind of like Christmas Day.”
"“It’s fun for everybody. It gives the fans exciting games when guys are in different jerseys. For the players, especially the goalies, we got to design new gear and new helmets and stuff like that.”"
Word on the street is the new reverse retro designs will be unveiled later this month and fans can buy merchandise sometime in November.
Kuemper already had a screaming eagle helmet in red. The black one looks even more sick. Black with a Screaming Eagle on it is a whole lot better than a black jersey with the capitol dome, in my opinion.
It looks like this will be the hottest item for the holidays around the DMV. Once again, the Caps are responsible for taking our money.
