Things looked ugly in the first two periods for the Washington Capitals but in the third period they unleashed the fury and dethroned the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-3 win on home ice.

The first period was scoreless as the Caps outshot the Kings 8-5.

The Kings outshot the Caps 8-7 in the second period and scored two goals to put the Caps in a 2-0 hole entering the third period. The goals came from Sean Durzi at 1:26 and Phillip Danault at 15:23.

In the third period the Caps turned it on by scoring four goals en route to the win. The comeback Caps were at it again just like they came back on Monday night at home.

Nic Dowd got the rally started with a quick snipe in front of the net at 3:11. It was his second goal of the season and the play was set up by Nick Jensen.

Marcus Johansson said after the game, “I think a soon as Dowder scored, I felt like, ‘OK, here we go'”.

At 4:10 it was a brand new game thanks to a shot from John Carlson for his second goal of the season. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov had the helpers.

The Caps took the lead at 8:59 with a Lars Eller shot from the right face off circle for his second goal of the season. It was assisted by Orlov and Carlson.

Viktor Arvidsson scored at 10:31 to tie the game at three. The Caps then got the game winner at 14:35 from none other than Marcus Johansson on a beautiful wraparound goal. Orlov and T.J. Oshie had the assists and it was MoJo’s second goal of the season.

That’s four different goal scorers that helped the Caps to the win. The Caps outshot the Kings 17-13 in the third and 32-26 overall. Darcy Kuemper got the win behind 23 saves.
