#1 John Carlson

Who else but John Carlson to turn over the puck and cost the Capitals another game. It was a head scratcher last season and it looks like it’s continuing onto this season.

While the Capitals were on the power play it was a sloppy turnover in their own zone that sealed the game and the eventual win for the Stars.

Joel Kiviranta stripped Carlson from behind then beat Darcy Kuemper with a backhanded goal. The win for the Stars improved their record to 5-2-1.

The Caps could not recover from that turnover. It truly came back to bite them in the end. It also couldn’t help as Oettinger was dominant the entire night.

Capitals coach Peter Laviolette said after the game:

"It was tight. Chances were low both ways. Just wasn’t a lot of opportunity out there. We had a couple shifts in the second period where we were caught playing too much defense, and it kept us in our end and hemmed us in a little.”"

The Stars offense kept pressure on Kuemper the entire night which made Carlson’s late turnover all the more costly.
