The Christmas break is over as the Washington Capitals are back on the road to take on the New York Rangers for the first time this season. The Rangers made it to the Eastern Conference Final last season before falling just short to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Capitals held a morning skate at Madison Square Garden. Here’s how the lines would look via Samantha Pell of The Washington Post:
Ovechkin-Strome-Sheary
Milano-Kuznetsov-Mantha
Johansson-Eller-NAK
Protas-Dowd-Hathaway
Gustafsson-TvR
Orlov-Jensen
Alexeyev-Irwin
*No Carlson, Fehervary, Oshie, all out with upper body injuries.
Here were the power play units:
PP1: Ovechkin, Gustafsson, Kuznetsov, Strome, Johansson
PP2: Orlov, TvR, Mantha, Sheary, Milano
Darcy Kuemper was the first goaltender off the ice and is the expected starter in net. The team placed John Carlson on injured reserve and called up Lucas Johansen.
