Evgeny Kuznetsov will be player to watch against Golden Knights

Kuznetsov hasn’t been known for scoring goals this season but he has been putting up assists. In fact he leads the Caps in assists with 33. That also ranks tied for 14th in the NHL.

Kuznetsov recorded two assists on Thursday night against the Arizona Coyotes and passed Dale Hunter (375) for the sixth most assists in franchise history.

It also marked Kuznetsov’s 125th career multi point game, which tied Dennis Maruk for the ninth most in franchise history. In addition, Kuznetsov ranks tied for ninth in the NHL in assists at five on five with 18 and tied for 11th in primary assists with 20.

After a slow start to the season, Kuznetsov has recorded 23 points in his last 23 games with three goals and 20 assists.

Kuznetsov has three goals in his regular season career against the Golden Knights while tying for the team lead against them with seven assists. He has 10 points overall against Vegas.

Kuznetsov has six goals and 33 assists for 39 points through 47 games played. At morning skate today in Vegas he was centering the fourth line in between Marcus Johansson and Garnet Hathaway.

Kuznetsov will be one of those important players in 2023 as the Caps will look to turn a corner after turning their season around. They sit at first place in the Wild Card and at fourth place in the Metropolitan Division.

With Ovechkin being a game time decision it’ll be guys like Kuznetsov looking to step up tonight. He can definitely put up some points. I think tonight should be a good game that could go either way.
