The Capitals second to last game of the month puts them in a road contest at the Toronto Maple Leafs. A good team but also a team they have thus far split the season series with. Each team won on their home ice.

In the Capitals win Erik Gustafsson notched a hat trick. In the Maple Leafs win, Ilya Samsonov got revenge on his former team in the second game of the season. This will be the third and final meeting between the teams this season.

The Maple Leafs are 28-11-7 with 63 points. That’s good for second in the Atlantic Division while it looks like the Boston Bruins are running away with the President’s Trophy.

They are currently on a two game winning streak, beating the Florida Panthers 5-4 in overtime and the Winnipeg Jets 4-1. Mitch Marner leads the team with 55 points (17 goals and 38 assists). Auston Matthews and William Nylander each have 24 goals.
