The Washington Capitals have one more game left and then it is NHL All Star Weekend in the Sunshine State. Alex Ovechkin will be representing the team in the festivities.
We don’t know the roster but we do know the details of the skills competition. Once we get the rosters for that we’ll break that down in a later article.
Ovechkin has 32 goals and 22 assists for 54 points. He hasn’t skipped a beat since turning 37 and has passed Gordie Howe for second all time on the NHL’s all time goal scoring list.
With 812 goals in his career he is now 82 from number one Wayne Gretzky. Ovechkin didn’t participate in the All Star Game last year in Las Vegas due to COVID protocol. Tom Wilson and Evgeny Kuznetsov would represent the Caps.
Ovechkin last participated in the All Star Game in 2018 which was the year they’d go on to win the Stanley Cup. That year also saw Ovechkin win the Hardest Shot competition.
As far as the game itself, the Central and Pacific will square off at 3 p.m. while the Metropolitan Division will take on the Atlantic at 4 p.m. with 5 p.m. being the winners of those two matchups.
