Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes Stadium Series: Date, Time, Betting Odds, Streaming, More
The wait is finally over. Tonight the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes will take their division rivalry outside at Carter Finley Stadium on the campus of North Carolina State. The Caps come into this one needing a win as they’ve lost three in a row and would love nothing more than to win it for their captain after Alex Ovechkin left the team to be with his family due to the passing away of his father Mikhail.
Washington is 103-57-14-10 all time against the Carolina Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers franchise and 9-3-2 in their last 14 games against the Hurricanes dating back to the 2018-19 season. In addition, the Caps have earned at least one point in four straight road games against Carolina, going 3-0-1.
Tonight’s Stadium Series game will mark the fourth regular season outdoor game for the Capitals, who are 3-0-0 in their previous appearances in the NHL’s showcase. Those came in the 2011 Winter Classic at Heinz Field, the 2015 Winter Classic at Nationals Park, and the 2018 Stadium Series at the Naval Academy.
The Caps three outdoor game wins are the third most in NHL history. The New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins each have four wins in the great outdoors so a win today would tie them. The Caps would also join the Rangers as the only two franchises to win each of their first outdoor game appearances.
19 members of the Capitals have dressed for at least one NHL outdoor game including 15 that are currently on the active roster. Nine of those 19 have appeared in a previous outdoor game with the Capitals. Nicklas Backstrom is the only player on the Caps to have suited up for all four outdoor games. He has a franchise record four points in three outdoor games with a goal and three assists.
