The Washington Capitals continue their west coast road trip tonight against the San Jose Sharks in a rematch from Super Bowl Sunday that began the Caps downfall in a 4-1 loss on home ice.

The Caps made some moves at the deadline. Some call it a sell off. Others call it a retool. Whatever it was, I called it a move to better the future. And they aren’t mathematically out of the playoff race… yet.

The Caps currently sit at sixth place in the Wild Card with a 30-27-6 record for 66 points. It’s actually a four way tie for 66 points with the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, and Buffalo Sabres. They are all four points behind the New York Islanders for the second and final playoff spot. The Islanders trail the Pittsburgh Penguins for the first wild card spot by one point.

The new look Capitals thankfully take the ice in the early evening this Saturday night.
