The big news coming out of morning skate was that the team will be without Sonny Milano for up to a week or even longer as the winger suffered an upper body injury in the Caps 6-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. He took a hit.

Here are the lines tonight at PPG Paints Arena, courtesy of Mike Vogel of WashingtonCaps.com:

Ovechkin-Strome-Wilson
Protas-Backstrom-Oshie
Mantha-Kuznetsov-Smith
Sheary-Dowd-Aube-Kubel

Fehervary-Carlson
Sandin-Jensen
Alexeyev-van Riemsdyk

Kuemper vs. DeSmith

So Aliaksei Protas will skate in Sonny Milano’s spot on the second line. Other than that no big changes to the lineup. Other than that the big news is Evgeny Kuznetsov apparently requested a trade from the Capitals two years ago.

Had the Caps traded Kuznetsov a while ago before it was a thing, they would be reaping the benefits right now. But now there’s drama ahead of what is possibly the biggest game of the Capitals season.

You can catch the game at 8 p.m. on ABC and ESPN plus. The Capitals are just four points behind the Penguins for the second and final Wild Card playoff spot. So you don’t want to miss this one.

The Capitals are coming off a 6-1 win on home ice over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night as they got goal scoring up and down the lineup. The Penguins are coming off a 3-2 loss on the road to the Dallas Stars.
