The Caps held a morning skate and got some good news as Sonny Milano participated in a blue non contact sweater.

The Caps aren’t quite out of the race yet but it keeps looking bleak. They are 34-32-8 with 76 points, nine points behind the Islanders who occupy the first Wild Card. The Pittsburgh Penguins have 82 which is six points ahead of the Caps and Saturdays Caps loss to the Penguins did them no favors.

Tonight is the third of four meetings between the teams this season. The Caps have won the first two games by a combined score of 9-4. Washington overcame a three goal deficit to defeat the Islanders 4-3 in overtime on Jan. 16, marking the Caps largest comeback win of the season.

On March 11, the Capitals scored five unanswered goals en route to a 5-1 win at UBS Arena. The Capitals and Islanders conclude their season series on April 10 in Washington.

The Capitals are 121-96-13-6 all time against the Islanders and 10-4-0 in their last 14 games against them dating back to the 2021 season. In addition, the Capitals are 5-1-0 in their last six games against the Islanders at home.

If you want to get a last minute bet in, download the Caesars Sportsbook app. Caesars is the official betting partner of the Capitals. The Capitals are +1.5 point underdogs at home with the moneyline at -120 for the Islanders and +100 for the Caps. The over/under is 5.5. Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

Once again tune into TNT at 7:30 for the Capitals and Islanders. It should be an entertaining game. Enjoy hockey while it lasts. The season is almost over.
