The Washington Capitals have some youth on their roster already and one good example of a key future piece is Joe Snively. For the second year in a row he appeared in 12 games with the Capitals while killing it up north in the AHL with the Hershey Bears.

The previous season saw the Herndon native record seven points with four goals and three assists. This season Snively had two goals and two assists for four points. He once again had a plus minus of plus three while averaging 12:36 minutes of ice time.

Snively’s first goal of the season came in a loss on Valentines Day to the Carolina Hurricanes. He then scored in the season finale in an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils which opened the game.

Snively had a 46.56 percent Corsi For percentage, a 49.40 Expected Goals For percentage, and a 46.96 percent High Danger Chances For percentage, via Natural Stat Trick.

With the Bears Snively recorded nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points. He had 15 goals the previous season. The Bears open the Calder Cup playoffs this weekend at the Charlotte Checkers. He ranks third on the Bears in points per game with 0.81 and tied for fifth in power play goals with three.

Snively became the first Virginia born player to play for the Caps in franchise history last season. He had a three point effort last season on Feb. 10, 2022 against the Montreal Canadiens. He became one of 15 rookies in franchise history to record at least seven points in his first 10 games.

In 24 career NHL games with the Capitals, Snively has recorded 11 points with six goals and five assists and a plus six plus minus rating.
