The Hershey Bears got a big win on Thursday night in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The game was shown on NBC Sports Washington and they’ll broadcast games for the remainder of the Bears run.

The Bears dropped Game 1 5-1. Aaron Ness scored the lone goal for the Bears in the third period.

They bounced back last night in a big way getting a 2-0 win at Giant Center over the Rochester Americans to shift the oldest rivalry in the AHL back to the road.

Both goals came in the second period late. Henrik Borgstrom scored at 16:05 and Beck Malenstyn added one at 19:28.

On the Borgstrom goal Connor McMichael and Mason Morelli had the assists. Malenstyn’s goal was assisted by Riley Sutter and Morelli.

Hunter Shepard earned first star of the game with a perfect 24 save performance. You knew he was going to bounce back after allowing five goals in Game 1.

Shepard actually allowed four goals on 16 shots before getting pulled in the second period. He bounced back in a big way. Even had a highlight reel save in the first period to keep the game scoreless.

Beck Malenstyn earned the second star of the game with that goal to put the game away.

Mason Morelli’s two assist effort earned him third star of the game. For Morelli, it was his second multi point game in the last four postseason games. He had eight multi point games in the regular season.

Over on the opposition the ninth overall pick in last year’s NHL Draft, Matthew Savoie, made his professional debut for the Rochester Americans in Game 2.

Attendance was 8,389 at Giant Center, just shy of a sellout. We will definitely check out a game here next season. Sounds like a fun time plus it’s an easy drive and not that expensive.
