Washington Capitals News: Rasmus Sandin update, Bears even ECF, Laviolette talks Ovechkin
Rasmus Sandin is the latest Washington Capitals player to go down even though the season just ended. The Hershey Bears are looking to advance to the Calder Cup Finals. And Peter Laviolette compared Alex Ovechkin to some GOATs across sports.

The update the Capitals got from the Sandin injury at first could’ve been a lot worse. Thankfully it’s just day to day. He could return to the IIHF Worlds tournament soon. He left Tuesday’s game against Team USA.
Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan would like to see the young Swede defenseman become one of the NHL’s rising stars on defense in a top four role. He had 15 points in his final 19 games, making a strong case to GMBM. Up until his injury he led the Swedes in ice time in the tournament.
Sandin was a full participant at a recent practice but exited the session in physical discomfort. He did not play in the quarterfinal game against Latvia.

They faced adversity again as they dropped Game 1 5-1 but once again responded two nights later with a 2-0 win last night over the Rochester Americans.

Recently former Caps head coach Peter Laviolette appeared on the Cam and Strick Podcast with former NHL player Cam Janssen and NHL inside Andy Strickland.
The former bench boss had nothing but praise for the great eight and even noted it was never about scoring goals even as Alex Ovechkin has ascended up the record books.
