Capitals 2023 Development Camp

Washington Capitals Development Camp is underway from MedStar Capitals Iceplex from July 1 through July 5. All on ice sessions are free and open to the public on July 1-3 and July 5. The rink will be closed to the public on the 4th of July.

On Sunday July 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. the Caps will host an on ice clinic for 60 local youth hockey players. It is also put together by  the Capitals Youth Hockey Development Department. There will be stations at the clinic which will be focused on youth players ages 6-12.

Instead of a traditional prospect scrimmage to end development camp there will instead be a 3 on 3 tournament during the final session which will be Wednesday July 5 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Saturday July 1

9:15-10:30 a.m. Goalie Ice (Caps rink), Skating development (Public rink)

12:45-1:45 p.m. Goalie Ice (Caps rink)

2-3 p.m. Skill Development (Both rinks) – Split Groups

3 p.m. Media availability

Sunday July 2

9-10 a.m. Goalies and Defensemen on ice (Caps rink), Forwards (Public rink)

11:15 a.m. Media availability

2-3:30 p.m. Transition and Speed work (Both rinks) – Split Groups

4-5 p.m. Youth hockey clinic (Caps rink)

Monday July 3

10:15-11 a.m. Goalies and defensemen on ice (Caps rink), Forwards (Public rink)

11 a.m. Media availability

3:15-4:45 p.m. Skill/Goalie Development (Caps rink), Positional skating (Public rink) – Split Groups

Tuesday July 4 Closed to the public

9:15-10 a.m. On ice testing (Caps rink), Goalies (Public rink)

10:30-11:15 a.m. Forwards (Public rink)

10:30-11:15 a.m. Defenseman and goalies (Caps rink)

11:15 a.m. Media availability
