One more month without Washington Capitals hockey. But what are the latest news and rumors surrounding the team in the dog days of summer? Glad you asked because today we’ll look.

Even though Capital One Arena doesn’t have the ice surface ready, they’re still holding concerts throughout the summer. Last week famous Canadien rapper Drake was here. He performed for two nights and even had something interesting to say about one of the Caps facilities.

Also we all know that apparently Evgeny Kuznetsov requested a trade but now that might not be the case after all.

Drake is a big fan of the Capitals’ showers inside Capital One Arena

If you’re the best rapper from Canada like Drake is, you know a thing or two about hockey. Although he’s more of an NBA Toronto Raptors fan, he did take a tour inside Capital One Arena before one of his shows and he marveled at the Capitals showers calling them the “best in the league”.

And if you look at the photo Drake shared on his Instagram story that you can also find in the RMNB article, you see how big the shower room is. If the Caps are crazy in the tunnel and warming up, imagine them in the showers after the game win, lose or draw.

Brett Connolly’s story on playing against Ovechkin after Cup win is Peak Ovi

Brett Connolly sat down with NBC Sports Washington and shared an interesting story about his first game as an opponent of the Capitals. Connolly will always be a Cap for life for playing a part on the 2018 Stanley Cup team. But even so, if you’re not in Capitals red and Ovi is coming at you like a freight train, he’s going to hit you.

Kuznetsov Calls Recent Trade Rumors ‘Not Entirely True’

(Jared Serre/Washington Hockey Now)

Is the Evgeny Kuznetsov trade request rumor fake news? That’s what it could look like based on a Russian interview featuring the Caps center on the Hockey on Kinopoisk podcast:

"“To be honest, I myself learned about it from the press. They constantly send me pictures: sometimes to another team, then there. And I don’t really know myself. It’s probably like in marriage: you constantly swear, back and forth, some moments happen, but you still have this love.”"

So it looks like Kuznetsov will most likely stay. And he will get a good opportunity to have a bounce back season with Spencer Carbery at the helm.
