Capitals to partner with U.S. Women’s National Ball Hockey Team

The Washington Capitals are already ramping up efforts to give back to the community. In case you missed it, they’ll be in Winchester hosting a ball hockey clinic for kids. In addition, the team also announced a partnership with the U.S. Women’s National Ball Hockey Team.

This partnership will include a Girls Try Ball Hockey for Free Clinic and a launch of ALL CAPS ALL HER Sticks and Sneakers Learn to Play Program.

The Capitals will even serve as the presenting sponsor of the U.S. Women’s Ball Hockey team’s final evaluation camp that takes place on September 9-10 in get this, Pittsburgh, PA. In June there will be a ball hockey World Championships in Switzerland.

In conjunction with the partnership, ALL CAPS ALL HER will put together off ice events and activities including a Girls Try Ball Hockey for Free clinic that will take place on Saturday Oct. 8. There will also be an all girls session of the Sticks and Sneakers program with classes on Saturday Oct. 14, Saturday Oct. 21, and Saturday Nov. 4.

The Girls Try Hockey for Free clinic is for ages 5-17 and will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Oct. 8 at the Capitals Outdoor Ball/Inline Rink at Ridge Road Recreational Park in Germantown, Maryland. It will be led by members of the Capitals youth hockey development staff along with USWNT coaches and players. You can register here.

ALL CAPS ALL HER Sticks and Sneakers programming takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on October 14th and 21st and November 4 at the same place. The Sticks and Sneakers is offered to first time players between the ages of 5-9 and 10-14 and for the $49 registration participants receive free equipment among anther things. Register here.

Ball hockey seems like a fun sport especially if you’re too afraid to go ice skating. It’s great seeing the Caps try to grow the game throughout the area for kids and females who are just learning this wonderful sport for the first time.
