Top 3 promotional giveaways at Capitals games this season
Nothing is more powerful than bringing Washington Capitals fans together. After we all were arguing on whether extending Brian MacLellan was a good move or not (it is!), we all came together over one thing when the Caps released the promotion schedule: a chia pet!
Trust me, we’ll be writing a lot about said chia pet in one of the next slides but here are the top 3 giveaways to look forward to this season. Buy your tickets here.
#3 Caps Hawaiian shirt
On March 22 against the Carolina Hurricanes it will not only be a pivotal late season Metropolitan Division matchup. It will also be Margaritaville Night!
“Sit back, relax, and get your Magaritaville on as the Capitals take on the Carolina Hurricanes,” said the Caps. “All fans in attendance will receive a Washington Capitals Hawaiian shirt!”
Check out the awesomeness of this. The Hawaiian Capitals shirt features a red background with blue and white Hawaiian flowers as well as the Capitals spelled out logo along with the Weagle.
Hawaii is a beautiful place and we hope those who have suffered that lived there this summer can get back on their feet soon. This is sure to be a hot giveaway and the envy of next summer.
#2 Darcy Kuemper bobblehead
Sometimes there’s at least two or three bobblehead giveaways each season. Two seasons ago the Capitals had bobblehead giveaways for Tom Wilson and John Carlson. Last season’s bobblehead giveaway was an Alex Ovechkin goal counter. This season the lone bobblehead giveaway is Darcy Kuemper.
That giveaway will take place on March 26 when the Capitals take on the Detroit Red Wings. Capital One is the sponsor of the bobblehead.
The Caps say:
“Come cheer on he Caps as they take on the Detroit Red Wings. All fans will walk away with a Darcy Kuemper bobblehead presented by Capital One.”
Kuemper looks for a good second season with the Capitals after a bad season last year that wasn’t his fault. Per the Capitals website, there’s only a picture of the netminder right now and not what the bobblehead will look like. So I’m not sure what jersey he’ll have on.
Kuemper went 22-26-7 with five shutouts, a 2.87 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. Those numbers can improve as long as the team around him remains healthy.
#1 Sonny Milano chia pet
This is not only the number one giveaway on this Washington Capitals list. It is also the number one giveaway in all of the NHL this season! No questions asked.
The Caps advertisement for this game confirmed what we all know right from the very first sentence:
“The best hair in the league! Time to grow your very own Sonny Milano head of hair with this special ‘Chia Milano’! All fans in attendance will receive one as the Capitals take on the Seattle Kraken.”
The game takes place on Jan. 11. Mark your calendars now and you’re welcome.
Milano was a very bright spot last season. Acquired as a free agent during the second game of the season, the 27 year old recorded 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points in 64 games. He got a contract extension and became a hit in the locker room.
