Breaking down the 2023-24 Capitals national TV schedule

The NHL has announced their national TV broadcast schedule and matchups for the 2023-24 season. For the Washington Capitals, that means they’ll be on in front of the entire hockey world 14 times.

So either play good in front of the world or embarrass yourself. There’s no in between.

The broadcast schedule includes six Capitals games on TNT, two games on ABC, and four on ESPN. Additionally, five of Washington’s games will be available on ESPN plus while two will be available on Hulu.

There are also three time changes to the original schedule. Opening night against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday Oct. 13 moves from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 vs. the Dallas Stars moves from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 2 at Pittsburgh moves from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Here is the complete national TV schedule for the Caps:

Friday Oct. 13 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins 7:30 p.m. ESPN plus and Hulu

Tuesday Oct. 24 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs 6 p.m. ESPN and ESPN plus

Wednesday Oct. 25 at New Jersey Devils 7:30 p.m. TNT

Wednesday Nov. 8 vs. Florida Panthers 7:30 p.m. TNT

Thursday Dec. 7 vs. Dallas Stars 8 p.m. ESPN

Wednesday Dec. 20 vs. New York Islanders 7:30 p.m. TNT and Monumental Sports Network (MSN)

Tuesday Jan. 2 at Pittsburgh Penguins 7:30 p.m. ESPN plus and Hulu

Wednesday Jan. 3 vs. New Jersey Devils 7:30 p.m. TNT

Saturday Jan. 13 vs. New York Rangers 1 p..m. ABC and ESPN plus

Saturday Feb. 10 at Boston Bruins 3:30 p.m. ABC and ESPN plus

Thursday Feb. 22 at Tampa Bay Lightning 7 p.m. ESPN

Wednesday March 13 at Edmonton Oilers 10 p.m. TNT

Wednesday March 20 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs 7:30 TNT

Tuesday April 9 at Detroit Red Wings 7 p.m. ESPN

The local broadcast schedule for games on the brand new Monumental Sports Network will be announced at a later date.

Overall there are 14 times this season where fans around the country and the world will be able to watch the Caps. And lots of people will watch for a glimpse of Alex Ovechkin.
