Back by popular demand after a success last year, the Washington Capitals are once again putting together an alumni weekend just weeks before the regular season begins. That also includes the Stars and Spirits event where you can mingle with Caps legends at a rooftop bar.

The Caps are expecting over 20 alumni members to come together. The weekend features the Stars and Spirits fundraiser, hockey clinics, plus a watch party.

The Stars and Spirits rooftop event is put together by the Washington Capitals Alumni Association or WCAA for short. It’ll take place on September 29 and will cost $169.

Confirmed alumni that are participated include the following so far, with more still to be announced: Karl Alzner, Peter Bondra, John Druce, Alan Hangsleben, Matt Herr, Dmitri Khristich, Ken Klee, Olie Kolzig, Nick Kypreos, Rod Langway, Craig Laughlin, Alan May, Kelly Miller, Paul Mulvey, Andrei Nikolshin, Matt Pettinger, Michal Pivonka, Errol Rausse, Bill Riley, and Ken Sabourin.

That’s just a few names but that is already a star studded lineup. Especially having Bondra, Locker, and Alan May there.

Prior to the Stars and Spirits rooftop event the Caps alumni will host a fantasy camp for adult hockey players during the day at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Registration is now open at WashCaps.com/AlumniWeekend.

From 7-10 p.m. that night will be the Stars and Spirits event at The View of DC in Rosslyn, Virginia. It will feature alumni, fans, and team partners, and will have a variety of tastings, custom drinks, and premium hors d’oevres. And yes the rooftop bar has a panoramic view of our favorite city.

You can purchase tickets at WashCaps.com/AlumniWeekend. Fans must be 21 or older to attend.

On Saturday September 30, it’ll be the youth hockey players turn to learn from the big boys. That will be the Future Caps Learn to Play program which is a first time hockey program for kids ages 5-9. You can sign yours up at WashCaps.com/FutureCaps.

The weekend ends with a watch party featuring a meet and greet with the alumni on Saturday September 30 when the Caps are on the road to take on the Detroit Red Wings. While the Caps are in Detroit for another preseason game, fans are encouraged to attend the watch party over at Caesars Sportsbook at Capital One Arena.

It’s always fun to have a homecoming and we look forward to welcoming the alumni back every year.
