Breaking down the Rookie Camp roster

Washington Capitals Rookie Camp is almost here. Yesterday the team’s public relations department released their Rookie Camp guide which also included the complete roster of prospects that are participating.

Rookie Camp will take place beginning this Saturday September 16th at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. A reminder that the sessions on September 17th through the 19th will take place at McMullen Hockey Arena in Annapolis, Maryland. If you want to attend the session in Arlington or the sessions in Annapolis, they are open to the public and free of charge.

There will be a total of 21 players which consist of 11 forwards, six defensemen, and four goaltenders. Also included among the 21 are 12 Capitals draft picks. Before we get to the roster, a reminder that training camp begins on September 21 at MCI.

In addition to the 12 Capitals draft picks who have been either signed or unsigned, Rookie Camp will also feature several undrafted and free agent amateur players.

For the Capitals, it’ll be their first time doing something in Annapolis since they hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2018 during the Stadium Series. That took place at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium which houses the NCAA Division I Navy Midshipmen as a crowd of 29,516 saw the Capitals win 5-2.

During 2014 training camp, the team visited the Naval Academy as the players and coaches attended Noon Meal Formation and ate lunch with the midshipmen.
